Dentistry degree from Colombia and wants to work in the States, how?

A friend of mine is about to get her degree in dentistry (5 year program) from Colombia and wants to come and work in the States. She has heard of people coming to the States and getting certified, or taking some extra cles and then working here. How does the process actually work? Is it even possible?
