Does anyone know where the best place to go for the 4th is in Virginia?

We are new to the area because my husband is here for military training for a few months and we don't know anything about this place yet. We do know that Virginia Beach has a great show. But we were wondering if anyone knows of all the other events and which one is infamous around here. We are by Fort Eustis in Newport News. Back in Oregon we have places that hold events like derbies, rodeos, concerts, fair rides, food and so on. We are just looking for the best 4th of July experience since we are here for a short time. I figured I would try asking people who know where to go and where not to go. Thanks in advance for any help from you all!!! :)
