What is your opinion about proposition 8??????????
This is a mute point. State of California has a domestic partner law on the books which gives same rights and coverage as married couples to same couples. The fight is over a word and a religious ceremony. Marriage isn't a right, it's a religious ceremony established for the monogamous relationship of a couple in the eyes of religion. Even if proposition 8 is overturned as unconstitutional, it does nothing for federal laws that don't recognize same marriage, such as U.S. Tax codes, or immigration laws, these two federal government laws do not recognize same marriage unless they are changed by legislation. My personal opinion is that if a couple is loving and dedicated to each other, why do they need a piece of paper that says marriage on it to prove it?
